Supported Networks

An Overview:

Ethereum was built to be extremely secure and highly reliable, but with millions of people now onchain, it isn’t always well suited for speed and efficiency. This can unfortunately cause high transaction costs on the Ethereum. Because of this, the Ethereum ecosystem created a solution that uses additional layers compatible with the “Layer 1” that is Ethereum and support its load.

At Rainbow we call these extra layers "Networks", but you might also hear people call them Layer 2s, Layer 3s, and Sidechains. These other networks all benefit from the Layer 1 Ethereum network for security but are much faster and cheaper to use!

You’ll still have to pay a gas fee like would you on Ethereum, but it’ll be a lot lower! However most networks use their own network-specific gas token so make sure to bridge over some extra tokens to cover the transaction fees on your destination chain.

Your ETH address doesn’t change over networks in Rainbow. This means you’ll use the same address no matter what network you’re transacting on!

Rainbow is an independent wallet, meaning we aren’t owned by some big company who’ll want us to only use their network. We add support for as many networks as we can — as fast as we can — and will be adding more in the future!

Rainbow currently supports 11 networks. If the network you want to use isn’t displayed below, do NOT send tokens to your wallet address on that chain as you won’t be able to see them in-app:

*Degen Chain is actually a Layer 3 network! It’s built on top of Base, a Layer 2 network.
